Introduction to the Rifle (AR-15) is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation for the AR-15 modern rifle platform. This course is for beginner level shooters and is approximatly 8 hours long. This is to include classroom and range time learning how to shoot the AR-15 type rifle. The duration of the class will depend on the participant’s abilities to learn and comprehend the material being covered.

Course goal:
To provide beginning shooters with an introduction to the Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude necessary to own and use an AR-15 safely.

Course Outline:
Lesson I: Safe Gun Handling
Lesson II: Rifle Parts and Operation
Lesson III: Ammunition Fundamentals
Lesson IV: Rifle Shooting Fundamentals
Lesson V: Zeroing your Rifle
Lesson VI: Disassembly and Reassembly (Field Striping)
Lesson VII: Cleaning your Rifle
Lesson VIII: Safe Storage

Students are required to bring:
An AR-15 type rifle, two magazines, a minimum of 250 rounds of ammunition, hearing and eye protection, as well as pen or pencil with paper to take notes.

* If you do not have your own rifle and you are using this course to learn the firearm prior to buying one, Teaching Defense will provide one for you. Let us know at the time of registration so we can reserve a rifle for your class. *

All course materials and targets will be provided by Teaching Defense.

Introduction to the Rifle (AR-15) is a pre-register class and payment is due prior to the course date. This payment is non-refundable however you may choose to change your training date.
