The Wilderness and Remote First Aid course is approximately 16 hours of classroom instruction, field scenarios and hands on practical application. This course is designed for outdoor enthusiast and anyone who works or spends time in remote environments. This course teaches advanced skill to be used in emergencies when help from professional first responders may be far away. This course is based on the Boy Scouts of America Wilderness First Aid Curriculum and Doctrine Guidelines. This course aligns with OSHA’s Best Practice for Workplace First Aid Training Programs.
Must be at least 14 years of age by the last scheduled session of this course.
Must be have a current certification in Adult CPR/AED
To provide individuals a foundation of first aid principles and skills to be able to respond to emergencies and give care in areas that do not have immediate emergency medical services (EMS) response; such as wilderness and remote environments, and urban disasters such as earthquakes, tornadoes, and hurricanes.

Students are required to bring:

Wilderness and Remote First Aid Pocket Guide
Students may bring their own wilderness first aid kits if they wish however it is not required.
All other training materials will be provided by Teaching Defense.
This course will be taught mostly outdoors. Please dress accordingly and prepare for any weather situations.
Upon successful completion, students will receive a digital certificate for Wilderness and Remote First Aid valid for two years. Digital certificates can be viewed, printed, or shared online and can be accessed anytime through your Red Cross Account.
